What customers are saying about Tom’s keynotes
“ Tom Davidson’s presentation, “Boomers, Geeks and Geezers,” was by far the most informative
and entertaining presentation on the topic of multiple generations in the workforce that I have attended.
Tom’s engaging style and wit, when combined with solid research on the important workplace issue
for leaders in all organizations, made the investment of my time to attend the presentation very worthwhile!”
Ken Robertson, SPHR
Director, Human Resources, Virginia Employment Commission
“ Enlightening, informative, entertaining and most importantly...useful. Tom Davidson’s “Boomers,
Geeks and Geezers” is one valuable presentation for any manager who deals with a multi-generational
staff. We have already begun instituting some of the concepts he explains in his presentation and
have witnessed positive results. Highly recommended!”
Robert Simpson
Director, American Tree Farm System
“
Tom Davidson was the keynote speaker at our company’s annual meeting and his talk on “Boomers,
Geeks and Geezers” was the highlight of the day. He is an engaging speaker with a sharp wit and an entertaining delivery. We all left the meeting
with a better appreciation for the generational differences among us.”
David Purdy
President, Psychological Consultants, Inc.
“
Very entertaining, yet interesting and informative! Tom really connects with his audience and provides
a very interactive presentation. Tom does a great job of making a complicated topic understandable
in a short period of time. I’d recommend this presentation for all operations managers and
supervisors and all HR professionals!’
Steven Zimmerman
Regional Manager, Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.
What a fabulous presentation! I attended last week’s SHRM meeting and was very impressed with your content
and delivery. I am a sales manager and have seen and given many presentations, and yours was one
of the most entertaining while informative.
Heather Barnes, ADP Major Accounts
Having heard Tom Davidson speak on three different topics at Christian Children’s Fund, it was
my privilege to invite him to speak at the eighth annual Virginia Gift Planning Council’s conference
at the University of Richmond. The topic he chose was "Communicating Across the Generations.”
Tom had his work cut out for him because he was the last speaker in a long day, but his engaging
and humorous approach to a complex subject captured his audience’s attention as well as participation.
Tom’s incites into the minds of different generations is incredibly educational and accurate. He tells you how to effectively communicate with any generation – and
to realize there are huge differences in how each thinks and reacts.
I speak with Planned giving prospects around the country, and I use many of Tom’s ideas when talking with them. Tom brings to the surface a lot of
little things you likely know—but he puts them in a practical format that can give you a competitive edge. His information makes it easier for me
to communicate with people of different ages and whose outlook and life experiences are different than my own. I am better equipped to relate to a variety of people
when explaining to them why their support is so valuable to the children in CCF’s care.
Bob Smythers, Christian Children’s Fund
“
Tom’s presentation was engaging and entertaining. Beyond being a skillful presenter, Tom’s insights and information will have a direct impact on
my job. I found I was able to apply many of the things I learned almost immediately. Aside from offering terrific practical tips, Tom’s presentation also
made clever use of props and humor to keep the audience attentive and wanting more. There are few presentations where you wish the speaker would stay longer.
Tom’s is definitely one of them!”
Wayne Olson, Vice President
The Trust Company of Virginia
Tom’s Introductions
GENERIC introduction for use at the time of his presentation:
As you have read in his bio and will soon see, Tom Davidson is a different
kind of speaker. An intensely serious trainer and coach, he is also well known
for letting his hair down as a presenter, frequently poking fun at him and
the rest of us to make his points memorable and entertaining. Tom’s diverse
background includes outdoor survival, fire fighting, corporate training, managing
start-up operations and even hosting a radio show. A former vice president
of human resources, Tom comes to us from Richmond, Virginia, where his wife
and dogs let him in the house almost every night! Since he appears to be locked
out again, won’t you please join me in welcoming Tom to our stage for
his presentation of _______xxxxxx______.
Introduction for BOOMERS, GEEKS and GEEZERS:
Do you have an older relative who struggles with even the simplest technical devices? …or is that you?! Have you been amazed…like me…to see how fast kids can text message each other and keep 14 conversations straight…except yours? Have you ever looked at how some of your younger associates were dressed for work and wondered, “What were they thinking!?”
If so, then you’re in the right place, because our speaker tonight has been researching generational differences and presenting “Boomers, Geeks and Geezers” since 2001. In private practice since 1999, Tom Davidson is an executive coach and former vice president of human resources for a large paper company. He has also been a newspaper columnist and a radio talk show host, and he writes an unusual and informative newsletter on leadership-in-the-daily-news called “Leaderslips and Tips,” which you might wish to sign up for tonight.
Tom and his wife, Ellen, are animal lovers with dogs, horses and various wild critters who wander onto their property in King William County. Tom has also been a forester, a fire fighter, a trail guide, an outdoor survival instructor, and a competitive windsurfer. In fact, he once raced in the largest windsurfing regatta in the world, and is still talked about to this day because he was the only one in the history of the sport to get officially lost on the racecourse!
Here to help us find our way among the generational differences of our lives and workplaces, please welcome, Tom Davidson!
